Europe’s lighting industry plays an important role in supporting sustainability, notably through delivering significant energy savings and contributing to efforts to extend product lifetimes, reduce hazardous substances, and improve the collection and recycling of waste products.

Our ambition is to further minimize our footprint and continue to develop products and business models that align with the EU’s vision set out in the European Green Deal and that support the transition towards a circular economy.

LightingEurope engages with EU regulators to help shape policies and requirements that take into account the specificities of lighting products and support innovation in pursuit of Europe’s sustainability objectives.

LightingEurope also collaborates with EucoLight, which represents the WEEE Extended Producer Responsibility schemes for lighting and plays a key role in managing the collection and recycling of waste lighting products.

On behalf of the lighting industry and product users, LightingEurope manages the application process for exemptions under the EU RoHS Directive. We aim to support the reduction of restricted substances in lighting products and, where suitable alternatives are available, facilitate a smooth transition across the market.
